Choosing the right CRM for your business- What is a CRM?

As a small business owner, you have probably heard of a CRM system, but what is it?

CRM is short for Customer Relationship Management system. A CRM system is cloud-based system used to manage the interactions you have with potential customers and current customers.

A CRM helps you to get organised, be objective and give your customers a seamless experience. It helps you to manage the whole customer life cycle, instead of interactions ending abruptly once a customer has bought from you.

CRM software is nothing new, it has been around since the 90s, but it has come far more accessible to small business owners in recent years. There are now approximately 7,000 CRM systems out there.

Life before a CRM

Running a small business without a CRM of means that the business owner tracks their leads and customer information on spreadsheets, note pads or in their head. This is exhausting and creates a feeling of overwhelm. This situation does not help them to see the bigger picture and errors may occur.

Life before a CRM is ok whilst the business is small, but, as it grows, experience tells me that business owners loose potential customers and forget about the customers that have now ‘been and gone’.

Having one place where all these interactions happen, turns running your business out of your head to a place where you can seek objectivity, build customer relationships, and retain new prospects.

Does the thought of having a CRM leave you in the cold?

Melissa contacted me as she wanted to get up to speed in the CRM world.

Having been out of the loop for a few years raising her family and working part time, Melissa recently made a return to her passion with a new job role. In the time she had been away, she could see that people in her industry were using something called a CRM.

She wanted to feel up to speed…

I was happy to put together a power hour bespoke to her needs. We covered what a CRM is, what a CRM looks like inside, how it will be helpful to her new role and how she might use it in her day-to-day work.

Here is what she had to say:

“I had a CRM Power Hour with Veronica. Really useful and informative. I liked Veronica’s relaxed and friendly style – she was also great at adapting my session to my requirements”. Melissa Paxton
